An Alternative to Slide.com?.. NOT!!

Slide.com is shutting down in March 2012 and I think I’ve found a great alternative! In fact, it is so similar to Slide.com that the transition to PictureTrail.com is seamless. I had some fun with a few photos from our IT Open Days held recently:

Sadly, it has just been brought to my attention (see comment below) that the free option is only valid for 31 days, after which it is switched to a Free Basic Account, which is just that – BASIC. In any event, it will be deleted in time.

Note to self – read T&Cs carefully in future!

  1. Hi,
I found your blog as I just noticed that slide.com is shutting down and am too seeking an alternative. PictureTrail looked good until I read this in the ‘terms and conditions’:

“New PictureTrail members are assigned a free Intro Account. After 31 days, they are switched to the free Basic Account if they have not already upgraded to the Premium account level. Free Basic accounts are eventually phased out from the system if not upgraded to the paid Premium level.”

Hmmmm… Found this on the site: http://www.picturetrail.com/pages/accountUpgrade/intro_account.shtml

I think the search continues, at least for me!
Interested to hear if you find other options. 🙂

  2. Sadly you are correct! And so the search continues for me too. I will amend the post above accordingly. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

  3. I signed up to picture trail today.
Same as you at first I thought it was good, but actually it’s just a bit slow. I want something where the pictures stack on top of each other like proper photographs.
I’m not sure if you can get some add on for Picasa that lets you do that?
If anyone finds one, please do send me an email.

  4. This looks good, http://www.photosnack.com
You can pay for upgrades, but you don’t have to and the standard stuff looks nice, anyway.
    Ed.

  5. Thanks Ed! Photosnack looks like a nice replacement of slide.com!
